Yes, ESPN’s Heather Dinich is aware that Alabama just lost to Vanderbilt, as the No. 1 team in the country, and gave up 40 points in doing it.

The college football analyst is also aware that this happened just 7 days after the Crimson Tide outlasted Georgia in a classic in Tuscaloosa. All of this creates a little bit of confusion, and is one of many things the College Football Playoff committee will have to sort out as the season progresses and things continue to get crazier, because everything points to chaos so far in 2024.

Still though, Dinich draws the line when it comes to Alabama and Georgia. She still believes that the Crimson Tide would be ranked ahead of the Bulldogs by the Playoff committee. Dinich went as far to say that she would be “shocked” if the committee had Georgia ranked above Alabama.

The question about Alabama and Georgia could be a huge topic as we get closer to December, when the inaugural 12-team Playoff field will be announced. If neither wins the SEC, then the 2 behemoths could be competing for an at-large spot, with one getting into the Playoff and the other getting left out.

While Alabama was getting stunned in Nashville, Georgia methodically took care of business with a home victory over Auburn.

In Week 7, Alabama hosts South Carolina while Georgia hosts Mississippi State.
