ESPN’s SP+ predicts final score of Kentucky vs. Texas game

ESPN’s SP+ model has updated its score predictions for every FBS game in Week 8.

The Texas Longhorns picked up a huge win in Week 7 when they knocked off previously-undefeated Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry. The team had two losses entering the game, so another defeat would have likely ended their chances of winning the SEC or making it to the College Football Playoff.

The Kentucky Wildcats enter the game at 2-3, and are yet to win an SEC contest. ESPN’s SP+ model doesn’t see the team doing that on Saturday, as it has the Longhorns winning by a score of 30-15.

While Arch Manning didn’t up big numbers in the win against Oklahoma, he finished 21-of-27 for 166 yards and one touchdown. However, Manning notably didn’t turn the ball over against the Sooners and was only sacked once.

The Longhorns have a defense that is good enough to win the national championship. While the offense needs to become a little more explosive, Manning gave his defense a chance last week, and that is a definite step in the right direction.

The Wildcats have lost their last two SEC games by 21 and 22 respectively, and the offense continues to be a problem. Freshman quarterback Cutter Boley does have potential, but he has thrown for only 369 yards and three interceptions in those two games against South Carolina and Georgia.
