One of the best games of the entire 2024 college football season was the 36-33 thriller that the LSU Tigers managed to pull out against the South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia at a packed-out Williams-Brice Stadium.
Now, these 2 SEC foes will meet once again this Saturday under the lights down in Baton Rouge, and both squads are under a ton of pressure to pull out the victory.
ESPN analyst Bill Connelly dropped his SP+ projections for all the Week 7 action on Monday, and his model is predicting a massive win for the Bayou Bengals in Death Valley.
The SP+ is a predictive model that takes a wide variety of stats and historical trends and uses them to curate power rankings for ESPN and project the outcome of any given game from week to week.
When it comes to LSU and Carolina, the SP+ is projecting the Tigers to cover the -9.5 point spread and beat the Gamecocks 26-15, moving their record to 5-1 in the process.
Brian Kelly‘s squad still holds its postseason fate in its own hands, but a win here is crucial to maintaining that tenuous grip given the gauntlet the Tigers still have ahead of them.
A lot is riding on the outcome of this game, so it will be interesting to see how things end up shaking out once the final whistle blows in Death Valley on Saturday night.
