One of the biggest matchups on deck for Week 8 of the 2025 college football season is the top-10 meeting between the No. 9 Georgia Bulldogs and the No. 5 Ole Miss Rebels.
These SEC powers have split their previous couple of meetings over the past 2 seasons, and now they’ll meet once again this Saturday between the hedges in Sanford Stadium with a ton of postseason implications baked in.
ESPN analyst Bill Connelly recently dropped his SP+ projection for the pivotal mid-season SEC tilt on Monday, and the model is projecting the lower-ranked team to win in Athens.
The SP+ is a predictive model that takes various statistics and historical trends and uses them to craft power rankings for ESPN and project the outcome of any given game from week to week.
When it comes to this heavyweight showdown between 2 of the SEC’s top programs, Connelly’s model is projecting the Dawgs to come out on top over the Rebs by a final score of 27-26, and an outcome that would obviously cause a massive shake-up at the top of the SEC table.
If Georgia is actually able to avenge their 28-10 loss from last season against Ole Miss, then it will add to the mounting tension that has already been built up in the SEC title picture.
