Fans love a great show in any sport and especially in college football.
The sport often provides its fans with the magical touch, whether it’s an early September non-conference game, a mid-October SEC battle royal or a late November matchup in the fall chill with a College Football Playoff spot hanging in the balance.
But when it comes to late December, when it comes to the bowl season, the show that the Pop-Tarts Bowl puts on is 2nd to none, and college football fans can’t get enough of it. The latest edition of the Pop-Tarts party on Saturday in Orlando continued the love-fest that fans have with this game, no matter who the teams are that particular year.
This particular year, it was BYU and Georgia Tech taking part in this champion of popularity, with the Cougars coming from behind in the 4th quarter to steal a 25-21 victory. BYU won the game, then its players proudly wore shirts that read: “The People’s National Champions.”
It was a nod to their victory, but it was really more of a nod to the production of the Pop-Tarts Bowl and how it’s captured the imagination of the college football world. Fans took to social media during and after the game to celebrate the grand spectacle and compliment the whole show for giving them everything they could’ve wanted on a holiday season Saturday.
Here is just a sampling of the fan reaction to Saturday’s latest Pop-Tarts Bowl production:
