We’re in the first year of the College Football Playoff era and nearly half of FBS coaches think the four-team postseason should be expanded to eight.
ESPN recently received votes from 103 of 128 FBS coaches and 44 percent said they prefer an eight-team Playoff, compared to 29 percent wanting the current four-team variety.
Earlier this week, ACC commissioner John Swofford expressed interest in an eight-team scenario since “whoever’s fifth or sixth is not going to be happy. There will be some (Power 5) conferences that won’t have a team in the playoff.”
There’s currently a 12-year contract in place with ESPN for a four-team Playoff.
