Minkah Fitzpatrick’s nearly perfect college career is over. Now, what he hopes will be a nearly perfect NFL career can officially begin.
Fitzpatrick was selected No. 11 overall by the Miami Dolphins.
Fitzpatrick was a 2-time All-American at Alabama, where he was the Bednarik and Thorpe award winner. The 3-year starter finished his college career with 171 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 9 interceptions (4 of which he returned for touchdowns), 4.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.
The former Tide star finished his career as one of the best defensive backs in school history. He became the seventh Alabama defensive back to come off the board in the first round during the Nick Saban era.
Fitzpatrick was the first Alabama player selected in the 2018 draft, which marked the second straight year that a defensive back was the Tide’s first draft pick (Marlon Humphrey).
Needless to say, Fitzpatrick figures to have some Alabama teammates join him in the first round by night’s end.
