Florida has hit the ground running when it comes to bringing in talent under new coach Jon Sumrall. The Gators did a really good job of keeping current stars like Jadan Baugh and Jayden Woods for the upcoming season, but Sumrall and his staff also understand it is imperative to keep the top in-state talent at Florida as well.
One of the top defensive players in the 2027 class in Florida is cornerback Jaden Carey, and he announced on social media that the Gators are still in the running for his services. Oregon, Michigan, Auburn, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Ole Miss all remain in the running alongside Florida.
Carey is a 4-star prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is the No. 38 cornerback in the class, and the No. 356 overall prospect in the class.
The Gators have some work to do in the 2027 class, as they are currently ranked 47th in the country. They have only one commit in that class, and that is another 4-star cornerback Amare Nugent, who is also from Florida.
Sumrall has hit the ground running during his time as the coach in Gainesville, and being able to bring in guys like Carey will go a long way in building the Gators into an SEC and CFP contender.
