Former Florida cornerback Teez Tabor is getting another NFL opportunity. The Chicago Bears signed Tabor to their practice squad this week.
A two-time first-team All-SEC selection (2015, ’16), Tabor has struggled in the pros. He was selected No. 53 overall in the second round by the Detroit Lions in 2017.
Tabor played in 22 games, including 5 starts, over two seasons with the Lions before being released Aug. 30, 2019. In those games, he tallied 42 tackles.
Tabor then spent time in the San Francisco 49ers organization. He was waived by San Francisco on July 6 with a non-football injury designation.
Tabor’s signing with Chicago comes after two Bears starters – Jaylon Johnson and Buster Skrine – missed the last game and are uncertain for Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times notes it is possible Tabor could be activated for the game against Jacksonville.
