Florida got on track offensively last week, and the Gators continued that rhythm in the first half on Saturday against South Carolina.
With a 4-score lead, the Gators racked up scoring drives of 14, 7, 2 and 11 plays. After the first quarter, the yardage difference was Gators 219, South Carolina 37. Then with just under 8 minutes left in the first half, Florida outgained South Carolina 305-37.
The Gators started 5-for-6 on third down, and even threw in a highlight, with Trevor Etienne scorching the Gamecocks with an 85-yard touchdown run on 2nd and 10. He only had 2 Gamecocks within the grasp of him during the run.
The Gators entered Saturday with the third-best rushing offense in the SEC at 209 yards per game, but they got 291 yards last week against Texas A&M on 50 carries with 3 touchdowns.
Florida took a 24-6 lead to halftime after Anthony Richardson scrambled away from pressure.
The final rushing total in the first half was 263 yards.
Here’s some reaction to the offense:
How can you honestly look at the Gators offense this year & feel that we need an OC?
