Miguel Mitchell is the latest Florida player to look at completing his college football career at a new school.

Mitchell, a sophomore defensive back from Oxford, Alabama, decided to enter the transfer portal on Wednesday. The decision comes 2 days after Florida tabbed Will Harris as its new secondary coach.

Last season, as a freshman, he appeared in all 13 games, making his first career start in the South Carolina game. This season, Mitchell made 8 starts at safety over 11 appearances, recording 37 tackles and 3 passes defended with 1 interception. Mitchell’s Pro Football Focus grade for the season was 55.7, ranking No. 31 among Gator defenders.

Mitchell was part of Billy Napier’s transition recruiting class signed after the coach’s November 2021 hiring. Now more than half of the high school signees have elected to transfer before Year 3.
