Social media is on fire after the tenth-ranked Florida State Seminoles dropped their season-opening tilt with Georgia Tech.

The Yellow Jackets escaped with a 24-21 win over the Seminoles. Kicker Aidan Birr hit a 44-yard field goal to seal the game for the Yellow Jackets. Entering the game, the Yellow Jackets were 10.5-point underdogs (ESPN Bet), so the 2024 season has gotten off to a wild start already. Before this game, the Seminoles had won 15 straight games when entering as a double-digit favorite.

Let’s take a look at some reactions from this wild Week 0 game.

The Seminoles were thoroughly handled at the line of scrimmage. Georgia Tech ran for 190 yards at 5.3 per carry. FSU didn’t record a sack and only had 3 tackles in the GT backfield. Florida State only made 1 trip to the red zone, went 5-for-12 on third down, and allowed the Yellow Jackets to convert 5 of 9 on third down.

Georgia Tech had 3 scoring drives — including the game-winning field goal drive — that stretched over more than 6 minutes and 11 plays.

The 0-1 Seminoles will look to rebound on Sept. 2 against Boston College.
