Georgia Tech drills walk-off field goal to beat No. 10 Florida State
Georgia Tech has pulled off a Top 10 upset in Week 0 of the 2024 college football season.
With time running out, redshirt freshman kicker Aidan Birr drilled a 44-yard field goal as the Yellow Jackets stunned No. 10 Florida State 24-21 at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.
Birr had never attempted a game-tying or go-ahead field goal in the fourth quarter before Saturday. And he missed a field goal attempt earlier in the game. He made good on his attempt on Saturday to give his team the victory in Ireland.

It’s a signature win for Brent Key in his second full season as Georgia Tech head coach. The Yellow Jackets hadn’t beaten a Top 10 team since a dramatic 22-16 win over the then-ninth-ranked Seminoles on Oct. 24, 2015.
The Seminoles, on the other hand, have lost their first ACC game since October 15, 2022. The defending conference champions will look to bounce back in their home opener against Boston College.
The Yellow Jackets’s flight home will be much happier. They kick off their home slate against in-town foe Georgia State.
Overrated.
Really dont mean it… very good first game..
Enjoyed watching grossly overrated FSU go down.
Great win by the bumble wasps…not sure why the refs effd up and kept the clock running when the GT WR was tackled out of bounds on 3rd down. Cost the spearchunkers any chance to tie with a long fg but hey, GT looked really good and DJ looked very DJ…
