Florida’s injury woes are continuing as edge rusher LJ McCray has reportedly been missing from fall camp.

According to On3’s Zach Abolverdi, the sophomore edge suffered a lower leg injury during a pile up in practice last week, but it doesn’t appear to be serious. There is no requirement or need for surgery, and he is currently considered week-to-week, per the report.

McCray is expected to be a contributor on the defense for Florida this year, as he saw meaningful snaps as a freshman last season. He appeared in 13 games and finished with 13 tackles. McCray also recorded 5 quarterback pressures. He is expected to get a lot of snaps from the edge position, where he showed the ability to get after the quarterback.

McCray signed with the Gators out of high school as a 5-star recruit in the class of 2024.

This is a pivotal year for coach Billy Napier and the Gators. Early on last season, there were many people who didn’t expect him to make it to the end of the season. However, Florida did a nice job of ending the season, and have much higher expectations entering this year.

The Gators get the 2025 season started on August 30, as they host LIU in Gainesville.
