Following decommitments of two QBs, Tennessee offers Cal commit JT Shrout

Wednesday was a rough day for Tennessee in terms of quarterback recruiting. The Vols lost both committed signal callers, Florida native Michael Penix and California native Adrian Martinez, in a matter of hours — leaving UT’s class without a quarterback.
Penix indicated the new Tennessee informed him his scholarship would not be honored, while Martinez jumped to Nebraska to become Scott Frost’s new Cornhusker quarterback.
With the early signing period taking place next week, time is running out for Tennessee to win over a prospect or two to replace those departures. However, that isn’t going to stop them from trying. According to west coast recruiter for 247Sports Greg Biggins, Tennessee has offered Cal commit JT Shrout a scholarship.

If you are unfamiliar with the name, is a 6-foot-3, 190-pound three-star prospect. He committed to Cal back in June over offers from Colorado State, San Diego State, Hawaii and San Jose State among others. 247Sports ranks him as the nation’s No. 26 pro-style passer. He threw for over 3,000 yards and had 27 passing touchdowns as a high school senior.
