After resigning from his position at Alabama leading up to the 2016 NFL Draft due to his involvement in recruiting violations, assistant coach Bo Davis managed to get on at UTSA months later. The NCAA eventually handed down a two-year show cause to Davis but the former assistant appealed the decision.

Davis argues the beginning of the show cause should have been immediately after he left Alabama, the NCAA disagrees. The NCAA original show cause ranging from April 14, 2017 through April 13, 2019 will be enforced regardless of when Davis left Alabama.

The NCAA made the ruling Thursday morning by the NCAA Division I Infractions Appeals Committee.

The original violation occurred when Davis had impermissible contact with four student-athletes at their high schools when such contact was not permitted.
