Former Alabama OL Emil Ekiyor Jr. is going back home after 5 seasons in Tuscaloosa. Ekiyor signed with Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent on Saturday.
Coming out of Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, Ekiyor was a 4-star recruit, rated the No. 1 player in the state of Indiana for the Class of 2018. He ultimately chose Alabama over scholarship offers from 33 other teams.
Ekiyor was with the Crimson Tide for 5 seasons, redshirting in 2018. He became a multi-year starter at guard.
Ekiyor started all 13 games for the 2020 national championship squad that was an offensive juggernaut. This past season, Ekiyor earned First-team All-SEC recognition.
For the Colts, Ekiyor could be a steal as an undrafted free agent. Ekiyor’s NFL Scouting Combine performance ranked No. 3 among guards. Heading into the draft, there were projections for Ekiyor to be a Day 3 pick in Rounds 4-7.
