Former Alabama player and graduate assistant Lance Taylor has a new coaching gig. Taylor is the new head coach at Western Michigan, a MAC program. Taylor was most recently the offensive coordinator at Louisville on Scott Satterfield’s staff for the 2022 season.

Taylor played wide receiver for Alabama from 1999-2003, joining the team as a walk-on and eventually earning a scholarship. He was named special teams captain in 2003 by then-head coach Mike Shula. Taylor got his start in coaching in 2007 as a graduate assistant on Nick Saban’s staff.

Taylor was an assistant with the New York Jets (2011-13) and Carolina Panthers (2013-14) before returning to the college ranks as Stanford’s running backs coach (2014-17). He went back to the Panthers as wide receivers coach from 2017-19 before taking the running backs coach position at Notre Dame in 2019 under Brian Kelly. Taylor was with the Irish through the 2021 season and Fiesta Bowl.

Following the coaching at Notre Dame, Taylor joined Satterfield’s Louisville staff in January 2022.
