Holstein spent a season at Alabama, but did not log any playing time. Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi has publicly stated that both Holstein and veteran Nate Yarnell should play against Kent State.
Out of Zachary (Louisiana) High School, Holstein was a sought-after recruit. He was rated 4-stars, the No. 5 Louisiana product, No. 8 quarterback and No. 88 prospect overall in the Class of 2023 on the 247Sports Composite.
Holstein picked up scholarship offers from 24 programs, including Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Miami, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina and Texas A&M. Holstein was a December early signee for Nick Saban’s staff, opting to enroll early at Alabama.
At Pitt, Holstein lands an intriguing opportunity. Narduzzi has brought in Kade Bell as the Panthers’ new offensive coordinator. Bell comes from Western Carolina, a program that finished top 5 in the FCS ranks in total offense, passing offense and scoring.
Pitt vs. Kent State is set for noon ET on Saturday, airing on ESPNU.
