Former Alabama RB Josh Jacobs did not reach a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders before Monday’s extension deadline. It is now uncertain when Jacobs will join the team for offseason activities.
With Jacobs on the franchise tag, the former Alabama standout and the Raiders had a deadline of 4 p.m. ET Monday to sign a long-term extension. The deadline passed, and it might be a while before he shows up for camp. ESPN’s Adam Schefter points out that Jacobs has not signed his franchise tender for the 2023 season, and cannot be fined for missing training camp.
With no long-term deal being reached today, Josh Jacobs is not expected to report to training camp with the rest of his team. The Raiders are not expected to see Jacobs until later this summer, if then. Jacobs will have decisions to make as to when he is willing to report. https://t.co/U7TLnhjThJ

Saquon Barkley and Josh Jacobs still have not signed their $10.091 million franchise tag tenders yet, so they can skip all of training camp without getting fined since they’re not under contract. They would lose game checks only if they miss regular season games.

Jacobs and the Raiders have had a somewhat rocky relationship over the past 14+ months. Back on April 29, 2022, the Raiders declined Jacobs’ 5th-year option ahead of his Year 4 season.
Jacobs used the contract-year motivation as fuel. In 2022, Jacobs rushed for a career-high 1,653 yards. In March, the Raiders placed the franchise tag for Jacobs to keep him around for a 5th year.
We’ll see what’s next for Jacobs in Las Vegas.
