Former Alabama running back Najee Harris has been named a team captain ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 11.

Harris joins a list of 5 Steelers players with the same status with the likes of Cam Heyward, T.J. Watt, Miles Killebrew and Mitch Trubisky.

This reward comes after Harris’ standout rookie season in which he saw action in 17 games, recording 1,200 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns. He was impressive out of the backfield as well, reeling in 74 receptions for 467 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Harris’ success at the next level is not surprising as he was a standout for the Crimson Tide over 4 seasons with the team, rushing for 3,843 yards and winning the Doak Walker Award before becoming a 1st-round draft pick.
