Agiye Hall is hoping a professional football team will give him an opportunity after 3 years without playing a college football game.
According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, Hall is entering the NFL Draft. He’s doing so despite not having played in a college football game since 2022. Hall was most recently at Sacramento State, but did not make an appearance this season.
Hall was a blue-chip recruit ranked in the top-50 overall prospects in the Class of 2021 on the 247Sports Composite. Despite unquestionable talent, Hall’s career has not gone as he planned.
Hall spent his true freshman season at Alabama. He dazzled in the spring game and then made 7 appearances during the 2021 season, logging 4 catches for 72 yards.
Before a second season at Alabama, Hall was in the transfer portal. He was suspended by Nick Saban for a violation of team rules and removed from the UA roster. Hall chose a pre-SEC Texas program as his new home.
Hall ran into trouble at Texas before playing his first down as a Longhorn. In August 2022, he faced a criminal mischief arrest and an indefinite suspension from Steve Sarkisian after a campus incident involving a parking boot. Hall would end up playing in 3 games during the 2022 season at Texas, his last action on a college football field.
During 2023 and ’24, Hall had other matters to deal with. He had hoped to play for Gus Malzahn at UCF, but that did not work out.
In July 2023, a K-9 unit at the Orlando airport found 40 pounds of marijuana in Hall’s luggage. He was arrested in December 2023 and pleaded no contest in June 2024.
Silas Morgan of the Orlando Sentinel spoke to Hall’s attorney, Richard Hornsby, for an August 2024 article.
“The State Attorney’s Office was unwilling to let him plead to any offense other than the cannabis trafficking offense … Because of that, UCF made it clear that he was not going to be allowed to continue with the football team,” Hornsby told The Sentinel.
Hall received 18 months probation and a $774 fine for the charge.
