New York Jets rookie WR ArDarius Stewart hasn’t been able to work out for his new team due to surgeries on his thumb and groin.

The former Alabama receiver needed surgery on his thumb, but the team decided to have him get surgery on his groin too to avoid another potential injury down the road.

Though he’s been sidelined so far in his young NFL career, Stewart told NJ.com that he’s confident he’ll be ready to return to the field soon:

“I’m bouncing back faster than I thought,” Stewart said. “I’m picking up everything and learning everything I can in the meetings, getting mental reps.”

Stewart added that he’s keeping a positive attitude, as he knows football is a sport that lends itself to injuries and everyone has to deal with them at some point:

“I’m not frustrated,” Stewart said. “Things happen. It’s football. It’s a physical sport. Nicks and knacks happen. You just have to make sure your body is good by the time they need you ready.”

Stewart caught 54 passes for 864 yards and eight touchdowns for Alabama in 2016. He was selected by the Jets in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
