Former Alabama WR Robert Foster is back on an NFL roster, and it’s led by a head coach with whom he has plenty of familiarity.
The New York Giants on Monday announced that it had signed the former Alabama wide receiver to their practice squad. This is Foster’s 6th team since coming into the league in 2018 as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills.
Foster will be reunited with Giants head coach Brian Daboll, who was the Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator in 2017—Foster’s final year in Tuscaloosa—before taking the same role with the Bills in 2018. Joe Schoen, the Giants’ general manager, was the assistant GM under Brandon Beane when Foster was in Western New York. Along with the Bills, he has been with the Green Bay Packers, Washington Commanders (then known as the Washington Football Team), the Miami Dolphins, and the Dallas Cowboys. His last NFL action was in 2020 with Washington.
Foster went through training camp with the Giants in 2022 before being waived due to injury. He would have been resigned sooner, but the Giants were forced to wait to do so due to NFL rules.
Robert Foster has been re-signed to the practice squad by the New York Giants. He was in camp with the Giants, ended up on Injured Reserve, and was eventually waived with an injury settlement. Giants had to wait at least 3 weeks beyond the length of his settlement to sign him.
