Out of Orlando (Florida) Edgewater High School, Leary was one of the most sought-after recruits in the Class of 2021. He was rated 4-stars, the No. 10 wide receiver, No. 14 player in the state of Florida and No. 75 prospect overall on the 247Sports Composite. He signed with Alabama over 40 other scholarship offers.
Leary spent 2 seasons with the Crimson Tide. He played in 8 games as a freshman, contributing on special teams while recording 3 rushes for 22 yards and 2 catches for 4 yards, including 1 touchdown. Leary logged more playing time in 2022 as a sophomore, but did not see his involvement increase. He transferred after logging 1 reception for 6 yards as a sophomore.
After 2 years in Tuscaloosa, Leary initially planned on going home to Orlando. He committed to transfer to Gus Malzahn’s UCF program but flipped to Georgia Tech and signed with the Yellow Jackets.
Leary made 13 appearances for Georgia Tech in 2023, his junior season. He was among the team’s top 4 receivers with 25 catches for 309 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Leary’s transfer decision follows a quiet start to the 2024 season. He played the first 4 games, the maximum regular-season appearances for a redshirt, but missed the last 2. Leary has 3 catches for 27 yards on the season.
We’ll see what’s next for Leary.
