Auburn’s leading scorer last season Mustapha Heron is transferring to St. John’s.
Heron averaged 16.4 points and 5.3 rebounds this past season with the Tigers, and his decision to opt out of the NBA Draft and not return to Auburn was somewhat surprising. However, Heron is heading back to the Northeast in New York, closer to his ailing mother in Connecticut.
Despite having a big season at Auburn and helping the Tigers win the regular season title, Heron didn’t make first-team All-SEC.
The former 5-star recruit is seeking a hardship waiver to be able to play immediately.
