Former Auburn DL Dre Butler is back in a familiar place: the transfer portal. Butler is looking to transfer for the 4th time in his college career, he announced on Saturday.

Butler was listed as a redshirt senior on Michigan State’s online roster. He posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he has 2 remaining seasons of eligibility.

Butler’s MSU bio shows that he played in 3 games, all in September, during the 2023 season. He recorded 9 tackles, with 1 TFL.

Butler began his college football career in 2019 at Independence Community College in Kansas. After 1 season of JUCO football, Butler transferred to Auburn. He was considered one of the top JUCO transfers when he committed to AU.

At Auburn, Butler played 2 seasons. He appeared in 9 games during the 2020 season, recording 14 tackles with 2 TFLs. In 2021, he played in just 4 games, taking a redshirt.

Butler transferred to Liberty in 2022. He played in all 13 games for the Flames, logging 23 tackles with 2 TFLs and 1.5 sacks over 304 defensive snaps.

We’ll see where the well-traveled Butler decides to play the 2024 season.
