Former Auburn wide receiver Seth Williams was among the cuts by the Denver Broncos on Tuesday, as NFL teams pared their roster to reach 53 players.
He was among several former SEC players the Broncos let go, including Georgia’s JR Reed, Arkansas’ McTelvin Agim, and Jonathan Kongbo, who played at Tennessee.
Williams’ departure was a bit of a surprise to those close to the Broncos, as the Broncos sixth-round pick from the 2021 NFL Draft, played well during the preseason.

Mile High Report noted that in 3 preseason games, Williams made 10 receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown. At 6-3, he seemed like a guy who could fill in for the injured Tim Patrick.

Williams last season spent most of his rookie year on Denver’s practice squad, but he played 49 offensive snaps in the Broncos’ final 2 games of 2021 and had a 34-yard reception against the Los Angeles Chargers on Jan. 2 for his only official NFL catch.
In 3 seasons at Auburn, Williams had 132 receptions for 2,124 yards with 17 touchdowns.
