Former Florida big man Colin Castleton is getting another opportunity with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers announced this weekend that they have re-signed Castleton on a two-way contract. Two-way deals allow for the player to play for the NBA team and a G League affiliate. Each NBA team is allowed a maximum of two players on two-way deals.

Castleton has spent the past year with the Lakers organization. After playing for Michigan and Florida in college, Castleton went undrafted, but signed with the Lakers as a free-agent.

In the 2023-24 NBA season, Castleton appeared in 16 games for the Lakers. His contributions were minimal, as he averaged 1.5 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.2 assists over 3.7 minutes per game.

Castleton made an impression in the G League. He made 12 appearances, all starts, for the South Bay Lakers. His stats looked more like his Florida numbers that made him an All-SEC selection. With South Bay, Castleton averaged 14.1 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 blocks in 28.6 minutes per game. He reached double figures in 9 of his 12 G League games, including three 20-point performances.

NBA Summer League action is getting underway. The Lakers’ Summer League squad is coached by Dane Johnson, Castleton’s G League coach. While many fans were interested to see Bronny James on Saturday, Castleton turned in one of the better performances for the Lakers. The former UF standout had 11 points on Saturday, going 4-of-8 from the field, including 1-of-2 from 3-point range, with 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block while playing a team-high 27 minutes.

Castleton and the Lakers continue their California Classic slate of Summer League play on Sunday against the Golden State Warriors. The game is set for 6:30 p.m. ET and will air on NBA TV.

The Lakers play another California Classic game Wednesday before heading to Las Vegas to take part in NBA 2K25 Summer League action.
