Former Florida DL Gervon Dexter Sr. is filing a lawsuit for an NIL deal he signed while with the Gators.

Pete Nakos of On3 shared documents detailing Dexter’s suit against Big League Advance Fund. Dexter was given over $436,000 for NIL services and 15% of his pre-tax NFL earnings for 25 years. Dexter has filed in Gainesville, claiming the deal violates Florida laws.

Out of Lake Wales, Florida, Dexter was a 5-star recruit in the Class of 2020. He picked up 30 scholarship offers, signing with Florida.

Over 3 seasons, Dexter played in 38 games sporting orange and blue. He made 22 starts for the Gators over the past 2 seasons. Dexter logged 125 tackles, including 9.5 for loss and 4.5 sacks, in his 3 seasons. He also recorded 4 passes defended, snagging interceptions in his freshman and junior seasons.

Dexter announced in December that he was declaring for the NFL Draft. He played in the Las Vegas Bowl before being selected No. 53 overall in the second round by the Chicago Bears.

It’s not the first time there have been NIL issues at Florida. Highly touted Class of 2023 QB prospect Jaden Rashada signed with the Gators but did not enroll and was released from his Letter of Intent, landing at Arizona State. It was widely reported that the now-defunct Gator Collective failed to deliver on promises for a lucrative NIL deal with Rashada.
