Jordan Davis is a former Georgia product who played a starring role for the first national championship squad of Kirby Smart with the Bulldogs. Now entering his 4th NFL season, the Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly making a decision on his future contract status.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Eagles are picking up the 5th-year rookie option on Davis’s contract that will keep him locked into Philadelphia through the 2026 season. That is far from a surprise after Davis has developed into a starter for the reigning Super Bowl champs.
Schultz reports the decision locks Davis into $12.9 million guaranteed for the 2026 season:
The 2021 Bednarik Award winner and a consensus All-American that year, Davis anchored an ultra-elite defense for the Bulldogs that led the nation with just 10.2 points allowed per game. Georgia allowed just 29 combined points in College Football Playoff wins over Michigan and Alabama to claim the national title, the first of back-to-back championships for Smart’s program.
The Eagles would grab Davis with the 13th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He was 1 of 5 Georgia defenders selected in a historic first round of Georgia NFL draft picks, with 15 total players selected in the draft, including 8 defenders. Philadelphia also selected linebacker Nakobe Dean in that same draft.
In his 3 NFL seasons, Davis has started 39 games, including all 34 games the past 2 regular seasons for the franchise. Former Bulldog teammate Jalen Carter, drafted by Philadelphia in 2023, started 15 games alongside Davis for a dominant interior defense for the Eagles.
During a dominant Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs, Davis had 1 of Philadelphia’s 6 sacks of Patrick Mahomes. Now, one of the best players in Georgia football history is staying with the Eagles.
