The news of McKenzie’s injury comes just a day after he was praised by Bills coach Sean McDermott for his performance in a preseason game. McKenzie muffed a punt but was able to shake it off, posting 72 receiving yards and a touchdown in the game.
“It just gives me chills — when a player can go through a moment that he went through right there, and then reset mentally and stay on the field, and have the ability to contribute like he did, [and what] he did during that series — that says a lot. That’s hard to do,” McDermott said, per Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com. “That’s something we talk about, and I think that was a great example of him doing that in a key moment in the game.”
Last season, McKenzie’s 4th in the NFL, the former Bulldog set career highs in catches (30), receiving yards (282), touchdowns (5) and games played (16).
