Former Georgia WR Malcolm Mitchell has filed an injury grievance against the New England Patriots, per the Boston Globe’s Ben Volin.

Mitchell was waived by the Patriots on August 6, and he has filed an injury grievance seeking his entire 2018 salary of $630,000.

The former UGA pass catcher missed the 2017 season due to a knee injury. Mitchell recorded six catches for 70 yards in the Patriots’ Super Bowl LI win. This year, however, Mitchell didn’t participate in offseason workouts or training camp.

When the Patriots released Mitchell, they did so without an injury designation, meaning he wasn’t entitled to recoup any wages. A physician appointed jointly by the NFLPA and NFL will examine Mitchell and an arbitrator will decide the case.

Mitchell passed through waives but hasn’t signed with another team.

The Patriots originally drafted Mitchell in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
