Boom Williams’ tough offseason continued as the Bengals announced his release Sunday. The former standout Kentucky running back left school early following the team’s loss in the TaxSlayer Bowl. Unfortunately for Williams, that decision did not pay off come draft time, as he went undrafted.
After signing with Cincinnati, a curious decision given that Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard were already on the roster and the team spent a second-round pick on Joe Mixon from Oklahoma — despite how controversial Mixon’s selection may have been, it stood to reason the team took the massive wave of bad press because of his potential to stick on the roster for the foreseeable future, Williams will now have to make his official NFL debut with another team.
The Bengals announced the roster move Sunday.
