Scott Frost and the Nebraska Cornhuskers (0-2) are going their separate ways after a rough start to the 2022 season. With this, former LSU assistant Mickey Joseph has been named the interim head coach.
Before joining Nebraska as the associate head coach and wide receivers coach, Joseph most recently served as the associate head coach and wide receivers coach at LSU from 2017-2021. Prior to LSU, Jospeh made stops in at Omaha North HA (NE), Wayne State (NE), Archbishop Shaw High School (LA), Tulane, Alabama State, Nicholls State, Central Oklahoma, Desire Street Academy (LA), Langston, Alcorn State, Grambling State and Louisiana Tech.
As Nebraska moves forward in its coaching search, there is speculation that Joseph and other in-house names will receive consideration, while other names that could hypothetically be involved could include the likes of Matt Campbell or Urban Meyer, though it’s obviously still early and those are just guesses at figures who could receive consideration.
The Cornhuskers will look for their first win of the season against No. 7-ranked Oklahoma in a competition that is sure to be much tougher than the one they fell 45-42 to Georgia Southern in up next on the schedule.
