Unfortunate news to report this Friday as former Miami Hurricane running back Tyrone Moss has passed away. He was only 33.

His cause of death is unknown at this time.

Moss’ former position coach at Miami, Don Soldinger, was at a loss for words upon hearing the news.

“I just got the message, man, I can’t believe it,’’ Soldinger told the Miami Herald. “He was as good as any of them running the football. He had great lower-body strength and could run over you, around you, make you miss. He was excellent.

“Always smiling. Always. Great personality, just a pleasant guy. Good teammate. I wish he had pushed himself more. Of all the guys I coached, he should have played NFL football. He was a great talent.”

During his four years at Miami, Moss rushed for 1,942 yards and 26 touchdowns. He was one of the more high-profile running back recruits to come from the South Florida era after rushing for 7,407 yards and 108 touchdowns during his prep career.
