Former Mississippi State RB Lee Witherspoon chooses transfer destination

This offseason, former Mississippi State RB Lee Witherspoon became one of many Bulldogs to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
After exploring his options, it seems he’ll be heading closer to home to play in 2021 and beyond.
Per AL.com’s Matt Zenitz, the Birmingham native is heading back to his home city to play for the UAB Blazers this coming fall:

As Zenitz mentions, Witherspoon holds the Alabama high-school record with 53 rushing touchdowns in a single season, so it’s safe to say the folks around Birmingham are quite familiar with him.
In 2 years at Mississippi State, Witherspoon carried the ball 28 times for 136 yards and 1 touchdown. He added 12 catches for 68 yards.
