Former Mizzou DE Michael Sam stepping away from football

Former Missouri DE Michael Sam is stepping away from football, he announced on his Twitter account Friday.
Sam took to Twitter to cite mental health issues as the reason.
The last 12 months have been very difficult for me, to the point where I became concerned with my mental health. Because of this I am 1/3

Sam did not play in Montreal’s game against Edmonton on Thursday night because of a sore back. He made his CFL debut the previous week.
He was selected in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL draft by the St. Louis Rams, but did not make the team. Sam also spent some time on the Cowboys’ practice squad before being released.
A graduate of the University of Florida and founder of Saturday Down South, Kevin is a college football enthusiast.
