Former Texas A&M offensive coordinator Jake Spavital didn’t have to wait long to find a new gig.
Spavital will become Cal’s new offensive coordinator according to a report by SI.com’s Thayer Evans.
The 30-year old Spavital spent the past three seasons on Kevin Sumlin’s staff at Texas A&M, with the last two as sole offensive coordinator. A parting of ways between the school and the coach was announced following the 2015 season.
Spavital was a target for criticism in the second half of the 2015 campaign when the Aggies went 3-5 to finish a disappointing 8-5 after an impressive 5-0 start.
Texas A&M hired Noel Mazzone, formerly of UCLA, as Spavital’s replacement in January.
