Former Ohio State QB Tate Martell granted hardship waiver by NCAA

The Miami Hurricanes have their quarterback for the 2019 season, as dual-threat QB Tate Martell has been cleared by the NCAA.
The former Ohio State backup was granted a hardship waiver and will now be immediately eligible after transferring this offseason.
The Hurricanes announced the result of Martell’s appeal on Tuesday afternoon. Martell has three years of eligibility remaining:

Martell also celebrated the news with a tweet showing his excitement to play in Miami:

How the NCAA could ever tell a player they can’t play right away again is a good question at this point, as the only “hardship” Martell seemed to endure at Ohio State was sitting behind Dwayne Haskins and having the Buckeyes land Justin Fields this offseason.
Will this change the landscape of college football and make every player essentially a free agent? Only time will tell.
