Former LSU and Ole Miss quarterback Walker Howard is back in the transfer portal as he enters his final year of eligibility.
Howard, a 2022 recruit who initially signed with LSU before transferring to Ole Miss and then Louisiana, entered the portal on Tuesday, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer. He has a do-not-contact tag within the portal, On3’s Pete Nakos reports.
Howard committed to and signed with LSU, choosing the Tigers over Notre Dame. He was on the Tigers’ roster for a single season, playing in two games in 2022. He then transferred to Ole Miss, where he was part of a quarterback room that included Jaxson Dart. He played in a pair of games in each of his two seasons there, completing three of his four passes against Mercer in 2023 and getting on the field against Furman and Wake Forest in 2024.
He then entered the transfer portal once more, opting to sign with Louisiana and winning the starting job there. But a torn oblique muscle in the season opener against Rice sidelined him until mid-October.
With a final year of eligibility left, Howard will look to finally put his talents on full display.
