Former South Carolina punter Joseph Charlton is looking for a new NFL opportunity. The former Gamecock was one of 5 players waived by the Browns on Tuesday as part of roster cuts to get down to 80 members.
We have waived the following players:
– P Joseph Charlton
– S Luther Kirk IV
– T Wyatt Miller
– CB Parnell Motley
– TE Marcus Santos-Silva— Cleveland Browns (@Browns) August 22, 2022
Charlton went undrafted in 2020, but signed with the Carolina Panthers and made the roster out of camp. He even made NFC Special Teams Player of the Week in his rookie season.
The last 2 years, however, Charlton has bounced around the league. With the Panthers, Charlton was placed on injured reserve on Oct. 14, 2021. Charlton was released by Carolina on Nov. 16, 2021.
In December 2021, Charlton made a 3-day stop on the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad. He then landed with the Jacksonville Jaguars, appearing in 1 game, making 3 punts.
Charlton had been with the Browns since Feb. 1. We’ll see where he lands next.
