Even though Tennessee didn’t have a player taken in the NFL, Micah Abernathy quickly signed a free agent deal with the Minnesota Vikings.
The former Vol safety started 30 games in three seasons, though he suffered several injuries, and missed four games last season with an ankle injury. Abernathy finished his career with 197 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two interceptions, 11 passes defensed and five fumble recoveries in 44 games.
Abernathy was UT’s second-ranked defender, according to Pro Football Focus.
He was ninth on the team last season with 38 tackles in eight games. He recorded a season-high seven tackles against Kentucky.
I’m headed to the Minessota Vikings! It’s truly a blessing! #Vikings
