Frank Maile’s time at Vanderbilt was short. He coached the defensive line in Nashville for one season, 2014-2015, and headed back west towards more familiar territory.

Maile, a native of Kearns, Utah, went back to his alma mater, Utah State following his departure from Vanderbilt. He spent a few years there in various roles before taking an associate head coaching job at Boise State.

On Saturday, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Maile has taken a job as defensive ends coach at Washington State.

Maile was part of Derek Mason’s inaugural season for the Commodores. Vanderbilt especially struggled that season, losing all 8 conference games and finishing the year with a 3-9 record.

Vanderbilt is still without a winning record since then, though it finished 2016 and 2018 with a 6-6 regular season record followed by a bowl loss.
