Could four former SEC players go in the Top 5 of the upcoming NFL Draft?
There’s little intrigue at the top of most 2017 NFL mock drafts these days, as Myles Garrett is the name that tops the list of seemingly each and every mock draft broad. Likely the only thing that can threaten Garrett’s reign at the top of the pyramid would be a team trading up to acquire Cleveland’s pick in order to select a quarterback. Considering the Browns already have 10 draft picks in the first five rounds of the upcoming draft, the Browns would likely need to be blown away by an offer to pull the trigger on such a trade.
So while the top spot appears to be a near lock, with just over three weeks until the draft arrives, the remaining pecking order remains a mystery. In the latest Sporting News NFL mock draft, Vinnie Iyer predicts the SEC has four former players selected in the top five overall.
Iyer’s mock has nine total former SEC players, with Texas A&M, LSU, Alabama, and Tennessee all being represented. Here’s the full list of each former league player on this list:
1. Cleveland Browns – Myles Garrett, Texas A&M
3. Chicago Bears – Jamal Adams, LSU
4. Jacksonville Jaguars – Leonard Fournette, LSU
5. Tennessee Titans (from Rams) – Jonathan Allen, Alabama
9. Cincinnati Bengals – Derek Barnett, Tennessee
11. New Orleans Saints – O.J. Howard, Alabama
15. Indianapolis Colts – Reuben Foster, Alabama
26. Seattle Seahawks – Cam Robinson, Alabama
27. Kansas City Chiefs – Tre’Davious White, LSU
