Frank Martin responds to strong allegations against Dawn Staley by Mizzou AD Jim Sterk
South Carolina basketball coach Frank Martin is certainly one to speak his mind. The Gamecock coach put that on display for a national audience last spring as his team made a magical run to the Final Four last season and based on his recent comments, that’s not something that he plans to change anytime soon.
Following an altercation during a women’s basketball game between South Carolina and Missouri in Columbia, Mizzou AD Jim Sterk took issue with the Gamecock program. In particular, the Mizzou AD called out Carolina’s women’s coach Dawn Staley for fostering the atmosphere around the program. Sterk accused South Carolina fans of spitting and using racial slurs against the Tiger players.
That’s a strong accusation for an AD to make about a coach and one that Martin doesn’t seem to appreciate.
Early Wednesday morning, the South Carolina men’s basketball coach sent out this tweet in response to Sterk’s comments.
I don’t handle things very well when some1 attacks my family/friends.As I’ve gotten older I’ve learned not 2give ignorance my emotions.Ive learned 2invest my emotions 2love.I love what @dawnstaley stands 4&who she s everyday.I’ll stand w her & #GamecockNation everyday ❤️ u guys

Based on that statement, it’s pretty clear where Martin stands on the subject.
