Ex-Gators great Fred Taylor: Kelvin got that gesture from me, too

Kelvin Taylor got a lot from his father, former Florida great Fred Taylor.

His size. His running ability. His school colors.

And apparently the controversial throat slash gesture that led to an epic sideline rant from head coach Jim McElwain.

Fred Taylor, fourth on the Gators’ all-time career rushing list, smiled during a taped piece during CBS’ pregame show when asked about his son’s gesture, which came after a touchdown against ECU.

Fred Taylor, who ran for more than 11,600 yards in the NFL, said he did the same gesture — only it meant, “That’s a wrap.”

Taylor repeated the gesture as he said it, again explaining he, like Kelvin, meant no ill will toward an opponent.

“He got that from me,” Fred Taylor said, smiling again.
