It’s tough to recruit with the NCAA hanging a cloud of uncertainty over your program. Things get even tougher when the head coach unexpectedly resigns. Ole Miss is all too familiar with the former but is now getting used to the latter since Hugh Freeze left Oxford. The latest blow to the school’s recruiting efforts came this weekend as two more recruits announced their decommitments from the program.
Three-star offensive lineman Blaine Scott was the first to back off his Rebel commitment. The Ohio native was recruited to Oxford by the team’s interim head coach Matt Luke but cited “recent events that have happened” at the school for the reason behind his decommitment.
Scott announced the news via Twitter:
Please respect my decision as I'm doing what is best for me. pic.twitter.com/p4Wux8It7Y

Not long after Scott made his decision, three-star defensive lineman Israel Antwine announced his own decommitment. The Oklahoma native recently received an offer from Texas, which may have led him to reevaluate his level of commitment to Ole Miss.
Similar to Scott, Antwine cited “recent events” as the reason behind his decision.
This has been a long thought out decision and not an reaction. Thank you for understanding God bless. pic.twitter.com/eeRkuEYeY1

Following these announcements, Ole Miss is now down to seven total 2018 commitments. The Rebel class currently ranks last in the SEC and No. 80 in the nation.
