Fresno State recently had head coach Kalen DeBoer leave to take over as the head coach at Washington.
Now that DeBoer has left for the Pac-12, the Bulldogs need to find his replacement, and it seems they could be turning to a familiar face.
Per Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports, Jeff Tedford has emerged as the favorite to land the position moving forward:
It continues to trend toward Fresno State hiring Jeff Tedford as head coach, sources tell @on3sports. First reported by @petethamel.
Was Fresno’s coach from 2017-19 before stepping away due to health reasons. Has been the clear favorite since Kalen DeBoer left for Washington.

Tedford coached the Bulldogs for 3 seasons from 2017-19 before stepping down after the 2019 campaign for health reasons. He amassed a record of 26-14 and went 2-0 in bowl games. He also led the Bulldogs to the Mountain West title in 2018.
We’ll see if Fresno State finalizes things with its former head coach over the next few days.
