Former Alabama basketball player Galin Smith announces transfer destination

Galin Smith has made his decision, the big man will finish out his college career at Maryland.

The Alabama graduate transfer announced the news on Tuesday.

“I would like to thank all of the coaches that took out the time to recruit and show interest in me. After many talks with God and my family, I’ve been led in the direction to join Coach Turgeon and the Maryland family!”

Smith is a graduate transfer from Alabama, making him eligible immediately next season at Maryland.

The Clinton, Miss., native averaged 3.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game at Alabama last season. In appeared in 94 games during his Crimson Tide basketball career.
